European Commission Opens Call for Experts to Form Water Resilience Platform
The European Commission opened a call for experts on March 20 to form a new advisory body, the Water Resilience Stakeholder Platform. The move initiates a formal process to gather specialized input for implementing the bloc's broader water strategy. The application period for prospective members closes on April 17.
Platform's Mandate and Function
According to the Commission's announcement, the Platform will directly support the implementation of the EU Water Resilience Strategy. Its core mission is to help create what the EU executive describes as a sustainable, resilient, smart and competitive water economy across the continent. Institutionally, it will serve as a dedicated forum for dialogue and expertise, facilitating discussion between technical specialists, policymakers, and stakeholders.
Application and Selection Process
The call, which was publicly announced, seeks experts from various fields related to water management, climate adaptation, and environmental policy. The April 17 deadline establishes a clear timeline for the Platform's formation. The selected experts will be tasked with providing actionable advice to the European Commission as it works to bolster continental water security against the pressures of climate change and economic demand.
