MEPs Insert Safeguards into EU-US Trade Deal Requiring Washington's Approval
Members of the European Parliament have inserted a series of safeguards into the EU-US trade tariff deal that will require Washington's approval. The move comes as the United States urges the EU to sign off on the agreement.
EU Concludes Trade and Security Pacts with Australia
In a separate development, the European Union has concluded its third major trade deal of 2026 with Australia. The EU and Australia have also concluded negotiations for an ambitious and balanced free trade agreement.
The two parties announced the adoption of a groundbreaking Security and Defence Partnership. Furthermore, they agreed to launch formal negotiations for the association of Australia to Horizon Europe, the world's largest funding programme for research and innovation.
